Desert Flame School of Belly Dance

Happy birthday to us, happy birthday to us........happy birthday dear Brackets...yep, its our twelfth birthday this month.

Why not come and join our celebration up on the mountain? It's cold outside, I know, but the atmosphere will still be warm and welcoming up on the mountain. Don't let the weather put you off, just throw on a wooly hat, grab a cup of hot chai and enjoy the varied talents of this months fantastic performers.

Join us on Friday July 10th on Kincumber Mountain for another fun night of music, entertainment, good vibes and fantastic food overlooking beautiful Brisbane Water. We will again be featuring some more fantastic performers and another lovely selection of meals served by our hardworking kitchen volunteers. So whatever the weather, bring a friend, a smile, a blanket or a chair to sit on and a torch to light your way and treat yourself to what is still one of the cheapest and best night out on the Coast.

This month we are featuring some of the finest new and established acts from around the Central Coast....

Vera Grassecker: A Local singer/ Songwriter, Vera has appeared at Brackets, previously, with Brave Kitty. We now welcome her back for her first appearance here as a solo artist.

Desert Flame: Back to enchant and delight, Alexandra from The Desert Flame School of Belly Dance.

Based on the Central Coast of NSW for over 12 years, Desert Flame regularly perform at family and community gatherings, celebrations, corporate events and also perform and facilitate workshops at major music and dance festivals all over Australia's East Coast. They operate a large school, teaching in the north and south of the Central Coast, with advanced student troupes eager to perform.

The Shane Romeyne SolutionShane Romeyn: local to the Central Coast Shane has been playing his style of acoustic roots music for many years around the coast, Sydney, NSW and QLD and many times at Brackets and jam which he has been an avid supporter of since it first year on the mountain. "After the cairn slowed down we looked at our selves and thought who are we ?what are we? why are we still here? Maybe looking to the bottom of a glass will find the answer SO WE TRIED, Well we found a new energy and feel to playing, a twist and a turn to honesty, we found a solution

The Love HandlesTHE LOVE HANDLES: Old favourites, The Love Handles, return to the mountain tonight to bring us another mix of classics sure to get our birthday crowd up and dancing.

FINAL DRUM JAM: Stay late and see the evening out with the spirit of the dance and drum! Enjoy a little more space to dance to the powerful beat of the drum.

Annual General Meeting

Its Annual General Meeting time and to have a strong community organisation we need a strong membership. If you are interested in diversity and performance on the Central Coast then this is the group to join, Brackets and Jam Central Coast Inc.

It's the end of the financial year for Brackets and Jam Central Coast. This means the B&J AGM will be taking place on Kincumba Mountain Mud Brick Building on Sunday 26th July 2009 at 2pm.

A social gathering will take place from 12.30 on please BYO food to share, items for bar-bbq and an instrument for a bit of a jam...

The 13th Annual Gathering of the Clans
clansimageBrackets & Jam Central Coast is pleased to advise The 13th Annual Gathering of the Clans is on again this year. Held as always in the NSW Central Coast town of Toukley on Saturday August 29th.
The Parade of the Tartans begins at 10.30am from the Toukley Central Business District to Harry Moore Oval where a mass pipe band display opens the day's celebrations.
Throughout the day there will be live entertainment, including pipe band performances and medieval displays. There will be craft stalls showcasing Scottish and local handicrafts. Clan stalls for those who would like to trace their Scottish heritage, jumping castle and slides for the kids with food and drinks available at the Oval.
Celebrations continue into the evening with the traditional Scottish Ceilidh being held with the Lithgow Highland Pipe Band providing the Celtic music.

Brackets and Jam Newcastle - Debut Event

The highly successful multi arts organisation Brackets and Jam recently celebrated they are expanding to Newcastle and will launch a monthly sustainable event on the third Saturday of the month at NCAC's Black Box Theatre, Newcastle West starting from Saturday August 15th. Brackets & Jam Newcastle aims to improve performing arts in the Hunter by creating an expression space for musicians, dancers, drummers, poets and artists from all ages, all styles and all levels of expertise. ............to whet your appetite though for now,
